 My name is Öphelia "BooMie" Vang. I am an ESL educator with a passion for language. I write serialized fiction as well as nonfiction articles in music, art, and culture. I have been writing non-fiction since 2014. I love music and started with introductions to lesser-known bands, interviews, and song or album reviews. I also occasionally write about my life as an immigrant or the various experiences I've had traveling as well as experiences growing up in rural Mississippi.


Occasionally, I've been writing about weird and unusual happenings on the internet as well as famous shock art. Most of this content has a difficult time finding a home.


I currently write three fiction projects:


Cocktails by Endo (Contemporary, Slice-of-Life): Cocktails by Endo is a heartwarming and silly story following the life of an infamous ex-porn-director turned bartender: Endo. It explores his relationships through the drinks he creates for customers. This work is an unstructured serial in the form of snapshots from nights at the bar he owns— and his sordid past. 


The Black Gate (Supernatural Horror): When a construction worker steps in a pile of rotting meat on his way home from work, he never could have expected it to be human, nor that it would be the start of him seeing strange things starting to happen around the neighborhood. The Black Gate explores a haunted slum and finds the characters realizing many old urban legends from around the world in their search for the truth of a grisly murder. The slum is based on one in which I used to live on the outskirts of Beijing and uses photographs I've taken from the area.


Two Monstrous Nuclear Stockpiles (Soft Sci-Fi, Comedy): Gambling addict Kaz and porn addict Yo-Yo get more than they bargained for when looted missiles gain them government attention. On their hunt to find more space parasites to harvest for use in beauty products, they find that both the Federation and the dissenters are on the hunt for them. Our space pirates face mounting pressure to defend their humble makeshift hometown.

My hobbies include collecting, archiving, and organizing music memorabilia, mostly in punk and visual kei music as well as playing video games.

   China is self-contained. While VPNs have bred accessibility to the internet from within the country, the culture is still largely self-referential in a place that has made it difficult to rely on or relate to a lot of outside information. Cocktails by Endo: Fuck His Dad

The pain of heartbreak was one that required a powerful remedy. This request was of spiced cherries, though Endo found himself uncertain what spices in particular. This story begged for something warm to embrace the world-wounded heart so it wouldn’t grow cold. The story that had been confessed by this newfound friend at his very bar had been one that he could empathize with.  Ten years of marriage had seen its potential end in a way that seemed so stark and so sudden. Endo himself had always rebelled against the nature of the culture around him to keep things quiet and orderly. To hold one's tongue about things until it became a divorceable offense was undoubtedly unacceptable to him.  Despite the impending springtime, a heavy, warm cherry port wine came to mind, though that was appropriate among camaraderie alone.
